Ages Teens

This is a careful, scholarly exposition of Ephesians 1:3–14 that rewards sustained attention. The preacher helps listeners understand Paul’s dense theological language about spiritual blessings, union with Christ, and the Trinity’s role in salvation—themes that ask something of a young person’s mind but offer real nourishment. Best for teens ready to think deeply about what the gospel actually accomplishes.

Character of GodPrayerGospel

Talk about it together (5 questions)
  1. The preacher says we’re blessed with ‘every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.’ What are some of those blessings he unpacks from verses 4–14?
  2. What does it mean to be ‘in Christ’? Why does the preacher say this phrase (used 11 times!) is so important to understanding the whole passage?
  3. The preacher uses Mount Baker as an illustration—how we stop noticing beautiful things because they’re familiar. How might that apply to how we think about God’s grace?
  4. The preacher mentions ‘already but not yet’—that some of God’s promises are true now but won’t be fully real until later. Can you find examples of this in the passage?
  5. Why does Paul keep saying these blessings are ‘to the praise of his glory’? What’s the difference between being grateful for God’s gifts and being amazed at God himself?
