This is the first of a two-part deep dive into one of Scripture’s most pervasive themes—that believers are genuinely united with Christ, not merely forgiven from a distance. The sermon reads over 200 biblical passages to show how thoroughly this doctrine saturates the New Testament. It’s intellectually rigorous but warm, and the speaker’s genuine love for this truth is contagious. Teens ready for sustained theological argument will find their minds stretched in the best way.

Jesus’ life & wordsGospelCross & resurrection

Talk about it together (4 questions)
  1. The speaker says the exact phrase ‘union with Christ’ doesn’t appear in the Bible, but the idea is everywhere. Can you think of one image or analogy from the sermon that helped you picture what it means to be ‘united’ with Jesus?
  2. In John 15, Jesus says ‘without me, you can do nothing.’ What do you think he means by that? How is that different from just saying ‘you need God’s help’?
  3. When Paul says ‘I have been crucified with Christ’ (Galatians 2:20), he wasn’t actually at the cross. What do you think he means? How can something that happened 2,000 years ago affect us now?
  4. The speaker mentions that understanding union with Christ should lead to ‘worship and gratitude’ and ‘powerful incentive to walk in obedience.’ Why would believing you’re united to Christ change how you live day-to-day?
